From Overcoming Challenges to Empowering Others: The Take Flight Girls Story
In 2014, Stephanie McCloud and her two friends in St. Louis saw a gap in their upbringings – a lack of support and encouragement for young minority women pursuing careers in aviation, travel, and entrepreneurship. Inspired by their own experiences navigating these fields as young Black women, they founded Take Flight Girls Inc. to empower the next generation.
Take Flight Girls tackles the underrepresentation of women in these industries by providing girls aged 12-21 with access to mentorship, exposure to career opportunities, and the resources they need to succeed. The organization fosters well-rounded young women by combining aviation workshops, travel experiences, and entrepreneurial training with a focus on community service. Through events, fundraising, and resource provision, Take Flight Girls Inc. is the catalyst propelling future female leaders to impact the world.
